FAQ
Where is Vannah Lee Photography based?
I am based in the hill country near Lago Vista and Austin, TX, but love to travel all over! Travel fees may apply depending on the location.
How long is each experience?
While every experience unfolds naturally and is guided by your story, here are the average times clients spend during each:
Petite Experience: 15-20 minutes - a sweet, focused moment.
Meadow Experience: 30-45 minutes - enough time to explore and capture relaxed, natural portraits.
Wildflower Experience: 30-45 minutes for each experience - enough time to let your personality shine and create a variety of images.
Mariposa Experience: 45 minutes to an hour for each experience - a deeply immersive experience with room for multiple locations, outfit changes, and thoughtful storytelling.
Each experience has an estimated timeframe, but I don’t strictly limit your time. Your experience will always flow naturally.
Do you time your experiences?
Each session has an estimated timeframe, but I don’t strictly limit your session. Most sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, though some may extend up to an hour and a half depending on the flow and your session needs.
What if it rains or the weather is bad?
In the week leading up to your session, I’ll be keeping a close eye on the weather to make sure everything looks good for the day of. If it looks like we’re in for less-than-ideal conditions, I’ll reach out as soon as possible so we can come up with a game plan together. That might mean adjusting the time, switching locations, or rescheduling if our calendars allow.
At what time do you typically schedule experiences?
I typically photograph most experiences 2–3 hours before sunset, when the light is soft and dreamy. I also offer sunrise experiences, which I absolutely love. The light is simply stunning! I only schedule one experience in the morning and one in the afternoon, so your experience is entirely exclusive, and you’ll be my only client during that time. This allows me to give you my full attention and ensures your experience is completely personalized.
How far in advance should I book my experience?
The best time to book depends on the overall look and setting you have in mind. I recommend reaching out toward the end of your junior year or in the summer before your senior year to secure your ideal date.
If you’re hoping to capture wildflowers before your senior year begins, I recommend reaching out at the beginning of March of your junior year to ensure availability and allow time for planning.
For those dreaming of seasonal backdrops, timing plays a big role. Wildflowers (including bluebonnets and other Texas natives) typically bloom from March through May.
Is studio rental included in the experience fee?
Studio rental is not included in the session fee. The Lumen Room starts at $75–$85 per hour depending on the location. The Leander studio is my preferred option, but I’m always open to other studios if you have a specific vision in mind. The Lumiere Studio in Georgetown and The Spot Studio in Austin are also amazing options but start around $100 per hour.
Gallery Delivery & Privacy
Your online gallery will be delivered via email within 3 weeks, though often sooner depending on the season. Each image is carefully hand-edited to highlight the best light, colors, and details, making your gallery truly unique.
Your images are yours, and I completely respect your privacy. While I love sharing my work, I understand that not every story is meant for social media. Simply let me know if you’d like your gallery to remain private, and it will stay just for you.
Where should I print my Photos?
You can order high-quality prints, canvases, invitations, and more through your gallery from the professional lab I use.
Below are my recommendations for the best printing labs for prints, canvas, invitations, and more. You do not have to use these but if you’re wanting a less expensive option to the professional lab I use through the gallery store these are the best labs I’ve found. The only printers I do not recommend using are CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart’s quick prints setup as their printers are made to print photos quickly but quality wise they do not accurately print the photos.
- mPix Photo Lab (Prints, Canvas, Invitations)
- Nations Photo Lab (Prints, Canvas, Invitations)
- Shutterfly (Invitations & Magnets)
- Precision Camera in Austin (Prints)
Do you require a non-refundable retainer?
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your experience, with the remaining balance due the day before your session. If weather or unforeseen circumstances require rescheduling, your retainer will be applied to your new date.
Please note: If a client arrives late (20 min+) or misses their scheduled experience without prior notice, a $50 rescheduling fee may apply. Emergency circumstances are always understandable and will be handled at the photographer’s discretion to ensure fairness and flexibility. This helps protect your reserved time while still honoring unexpected situations.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I offer flexible payment options with weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly schedules, so you can invest in your experience in a way that feels effortless and comfortable. I also offer Affirm payment plans through QuickBooks for even more flexibility, making it easy to bring your vision to life without stress.
If a payment is missed or scheduled for after your experience date, your gallery will be placed on hold. Your gallery is added to my editing queue after the final payment is made and delivered within the timeline stated in your contract.
If anything comes up, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Open communication is always appreciated and helps ensure the best experience for everyone
Can I bring someone to my session?
I always recommend bringing someone along to your session. Whether it’s your mom, dad, a sibling, or your best friend. Having someone there to help carry your things, assist with outfit changes, or just offer encouragement can make the experience so much smoother (and more fun!).
Bonus points if they can make you laugh. Those genuine smiles and candid moments always make for the best photos!
